Judy Staton, one of our former presidents, Family to Family teacher, speaker at many Police Academy and Case Manager trainings and overall volunteer for innumerable other NAMI Wichita projects died early on Friday, December 20, 2013, from a heart attack. This followed many months of her courageous battle with cancer.
Judy was fully committed to advocacy supporting changes in mental health service systems that would better the lives of all persons living with mental illness. Even when extremely ill, she was interested in keeping up with affiliate activities and community projects related to services improvement.
She is survived by her husband Jeff, daughter Heidi, son Heath and six granddaughters. We will all greatly miss her commitment, energy, compassion, friendship and support.
